How It Works

  3. GLEIF database lookup: Valid codes are verified against the Global LEI Foundation database to retrieve entity name, status, jurisdiction, and registration details.

Can I validate more than 50 LEI codes?

The bulk validator supports up to 50 LEI codes per batch to ensure fast, reliable results. For larger volumes, run multiple batches or contact us for assistance.

What happens if an LEI code is invalid?

Invalid codes are flagged in the results table with a specific error — either "INVALID FORMAT" (wrong length or characters) or "BAD CHECKSUM" (fails the ISO 17442 MOD 97-10 check). These codes skip the GLEIF database lookup.

Can I download the results?

Yes. After validation, click the "Download CSV" button to export all results including entity name, status, jurisdiction, legal address, registration dates, and managing LOU.

Is bulk LEI validation free?

Yes, this bulk LEI validator is completely free. It uses the public GLEIF API to verify each code in real time.

What do the different LEI statuses mean?

  • ACTIVE: The LEI is current and verified within the last year.
  • LAPSED: The LEI has not been renewed. The entity exists, but data may be outdated.
  • RETIRED: The LEI has been permanently deactivated.
  • PENDING_TRANSFER: The LEI is being transferred between LOUs.
